The Next Crowdfunding Campaign is Coming!

By June 23, 2015 June 24th, 2015 Ares Studios, Axanar Production Notes

Shut Up and Take My Money

We always laugh when you, our loyal donors, post that image.  So, thanks for not only donating, but making me laugh and letting us know we are doing a good job.  Things like this, and your emails and posts, make us want to do more and more for you.  And so, this next fundraising campaign is going to be our best yet!  In the past you have funded first Prelude to Axanar (to the tune of $101,000) and then Ares Studios, our set building and pre-production (to the tune of $638,000).  Now it is time to start funding the production of Axanar itself!

So, this July 8th the next crowdfunding campaign for Axanar launches.  And we have some amazing new perks for you and new programs.

If you were a donor in the last Kickstarter, you will remember that the money we raised there was going to building the studio, retrofitting it, building sets and pre-production.  What we got for all your donations was the very infrastructure to make Star Trek for years to come: Ares Studios. And Axanar is just the first of many Star Trek projects. The kind of Star Trek you want!

Now, we are ready to start production this fall, and our next fundraising campaign will be for that.  We have a pretty ambitious script and some of the best people in Hollywood working behind the scenes.  One of the most important, Line Producer Mike DeMeritt, has been working on the budget.  With 11 years on Star Trek, having worked through Voyager and Enterprise, Mike knows his stuff.

Donors are like Minions, we love you all!

So, over the next two weeks we are going to release the “Axanar Annual Report”, a detailed accounting of how we are operating, where your money has gone, what the actual expenses are, and everything you need and want to know about Axanar and Ares Studios.  We want you to feel totally informed and know that we are accountable to you, our donors.

So, stay tuned and start saving your money.  Oh, here are a few glimpses of perks:

  • Robert Clontz says:

Is there anything in the works for people that want to give on monthly basis, over the course of, say 4, 8, and 12 months towards the project; ie., $20 / month for 4, 8, or 12 months?

    • Alec Peters says:

Absolutely! After this campaign, we will roll out a monthly donation program for the die hards who want to fund the studio. We appreciate you guys more than you know! So stay tuned!

  • Rick Newton says:

Thanks for the “layaway terms” for getting on-board with the next phase of Axanar. I think I’ll be able to manage that schedule. Most appreciated!

  • Ray Siciliano says:

Will you have the “Coins” available as a perk? Being Retired Navy (21yrs) and living in Delaware, most of the military folks here (not many) are air force and army and they all have challenge coins. I’d LOVE to slap one for you all down and see the looks on their faces.

Thanx so much for what you all do!!!

Hope to see you in Philadelphia, Baltimore, or North Jersey for a ‘con. Hope you all travel out this way.

    Thanx again,

    Ray

      Ray:

We will have those in our store later this year. But they won’t be in the Kickstarter.

  • This is great news. I love the payment plan idea.

  • Davis Grayson says:

This is fantastic! I am really excited about this!

  • Mike Garrity says:

Will you be able to do the payments another way other than PayPal with a credit or debit card, by just dong a direct bill? Just wondering.

    • Diana Kingsbury says:

Mike, do you mean will we be billing people directly, for a cash/check/money order/wire transfer payment? That’s something we’re open to considering, but at the moment we’re almost exclusively using Paypal.

  • Jedman67 says:

How about (Chase) QuickPay or similar? Or it’s just easier to use PayPal because EVERYONE has paypal?

    • Diana Kingsbury says:

Exactly… Paypal is the standard, so has by far the largest user base. 🙂
(Chase QuickPay would actually work fine for us, though, as that is where the Axanar account is housed.)

  • Jedman67 says:

If i recall, Paypal has fees on almost everything; although that was a number of years ago.
You can look into Square; which is a mobile credit card reader you plug into your smartphone so you can accept credit card donations (i.e. at conventions; if that is allowed, or similar events) on the spot.

  • David Desjardins says:

Loving the chance to get my hands on the patches. Thomas Marrone’s designs really look great. Now to find a jacket where they all work on…

  • Starius says:

    Oh my.
The possibility of having a voicemail message by J. G. Hertzler is stuck in my head now….
    (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ 〜(^∇^〜)

    So very very tempting!
