Back from Treklanta and the second annual Star Trek Fan Film Awards.  Eric Watts, who created Treklanta put together a cool video on the event.

The 2016 Independent Star Trek Fan Film Awards were presented at and by Treklanta on April 17, 2016, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The panel of judges included Diana Dru Botsford, Keith R. A. DeCandido, Ken Feinberg, Matthew M. Foster, Andrew Greenberg, David Orange, Emmett Plant and Rick Sternbach. The Masters of Ceremonies were Eric L. Watts and Brian Holloway. The presenters included Carel Struycken, Tracee Lee Cocco, Jack Stauffer and John & Bjo Trimble. The award plaques were sponsored by Alec Peters and Axanar Productions.

It is a shame that the fan film community doesn’t support the Star Trek Fan Film Awards more.  While Star Trek New Voyages was represented by Treklanta co-promoter Brian Halloway, the only other award winner in attendance was Potemkin (Starship Tristan), which supported the awards last year as well.  Star Trek Renegades, which won 7 awards sent nobody, nor did Star Trek Continues, which won 5 awards.  The latter is even based in Georgia, but didn’t feel the event was worth even sending one person to accept their awards.

I can say, that as always, Axanar leads the way in supporting other fan film projects and we sponsored the awards this year and had a presence at the event.  Thanks to Eric Watts for giving us this opportunity to help promote Star Trek fan films everywhere.
